Opportunities & Events
Welcome to The Writers Circle’s Opportunities and Events Listing. We welcome all kinds of events for writers and creative people – readings, contests, classes, exhibits, festivals, services, organizations and all kinds of support. I’m leaving the comments field open, so please feel free to post opportunities as you find them. We’ll monitor as best we can, but we’ll need your help to keep things current.
PLEASE LIMIT YOUR POSTS TO WRITING-RELATED OPPORTUNITIES AND EVENTS YOU’VE VETTED PERSONALLY! We’ll also happily post non-writing related happenings of Writers Circle participants (meaning we really know you and have worked with you in our classes). We have several writers who are also artists, performers and such and want to support everything our community is doing. But we don’t want this to become Spam-Central. And please start your post with the category in all CAPS, as below. Makes it easier to skim. Thanks!

Reading Your Writing for an Audience
April 1, 2-4 pm,
with Leonie Higgins & Sandra McLauglin
Luna Stage, West Orange
Your words may sing on the page – but sometimes even the best of writers fall flat when reading their own work before an audience. If you mumble, stumble, sway or flail about, read in a monotone or can’t raise your eyes from the page for fear of fainting, this workshop will help you improve your public presentation and give you the confidence to read your writing with pride. Broadway actress/director Sandra McLaughlin and actress/musical theatre director Leonie Higgins of Center Stage Dance and Theatre School, will teach participants how to give their written words the respect, emphasis and flair they deserve not only on the page, but when read out loud.
Advanced registration is suggested.
$25/session if pre-registered, $35 at the door
$20/session for TWC students and parents*
Special $15 price for kids under 15!
